 LUXURY WEEKENDS

TAKE TIME OUT IN THE GARDEN OF ENGLAND

Birthday treat, anniversary surprise, romantic indulgence, or just a well earned change of scene Brelade Travel Luxury Weekends take place in the Garden of England – our home county of Kent – enjoying easy access from within the UK, or overseas via international airports and Eurostar services.

Choose your activity from one of those listed below – we will book you into a suitably located luxury boutique hotel, with a fine-dining restaurant, and make all the arrangements for your special weekend.

If the activity you are seeking is not listed here, we will be pleased to find your ideal experience and make all the necessary arrangements to ensure your weekend is everything you wish for. Mid-week breaks are also available – phone for a chat or email.

WINE TASTING

The chalk soil of Kent and the temperate weather conditions make the Garden of England a sector of excellence for wine production which is increasing in size and quality. The French Champagne House Taittinger have recognised the potential, having recently purchased land close to Ashford and Canterbury.

Guests will be invited to one of the most successful vineyards in the UK where they will tour the vineyard and winery, and after a break for lunch spend time tasting different blends and vintages.

This is the foundation of a fantastic weekend but we do suggest you allow us to arrange a taxi back to your hotel!

COASTAL WALK

Ideal for those who find solace or stimulation in walking, fully guided or taken independently with routes and maps provided, the distance is approximately 10 miles.

Guests start their walk on the western edge of Dover at Samphire Hoe, an opportunity to take in the diverse natural habitat along with dramatic views of the chalk cliffs, and across the busiest shipping route in the world to the coast of France. Plus of course for birders there are opportunities for viewing up to 143 species, the vast majority of which are in transit on the busy migratory routes around the coast.

Continuing into the old town of Folkestone, an area becoming increasingly known as an enclave for artists and other creatives, there is an opportunity to break for lunch at a choice of old English pubs or a celebrity chef owned restaurant, overlooking the traditional fishing harbour.

The afternoon trek takes in the Victorian splendour of the The Leas in Folkestone and onward to the promenades of Sandgate, and Hythe seafronts, before the final stretch along the tow path of the Military Canal – built to repulse the French invasion during the Napoleonic Wars, and now a haven for waterfowl and walkers alike.

A Traditional Afternoon Tea completes this pleasurable amble along a stunning section of south coast of England.

BREAD MAKING

Guests visit an artisan bakery where they will be coached in the art of baking bread, using a variety of different skills and ingredients from heritage grains to sourdough starters. Guests will be hands-on producing dough for a variety of baking products including a selection of breads, pizza bases, and sweetened dough indulgences.

Lunch will be served here featuring the produce highlighted in the tutorial.

OYSTER CLASS

In the fashionable seaside town of Whitstable, oysters are the big thing , world renown some might say! You will learn how to evaluate, open and serve this delicacy.

With the help of an expert tutor, guests will spend a day learning what is harvested from the sea locally, and  can try their hand at preparing a wonderful seafood lunch, before settling down to sample the fruits of their labours, at a shore-side restaurant.

CROSS COUNTRY RIDING TREK

This day's activity of memory-making could put you in the saddle of a reliable mount for a stress busting ride out into the beautiful Kent countryside – on bridlepaths, through forests and woods. Walk, trot, canter your way through varied and interesting surroundings accompanied by a qualified instructor.

Stop off at a quintessential English Country Pub, where there is a break for lunch, before making your leisurely way back to the stables.

BUSHCRAFT & WILDERNESS LIVING SKILLS

Join us in the Kent countryside to learn a range of wilderness and bushcraft skills in one of the UK's most important ecosystems – Stodmarsh, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Designed to provide practical hands-on experience, this is perfect for people looking to escape for the day and enjoy the outdoors, or wanting to focus on specific wilderness skills in preparation for their next adventure or expedition. Lunch is prepared outdoors and cooked on an open fire, and guests will be coached in key wilderness skills that will depend on the season, but generally include Fire Lighting, Shelter Building, Knife Work & Woodcraft, and Water Purification.
