At a pace reminiscent of days long gone - this safari has been designed to explore the highlights of five different but equally stunning Southern African countries in leisurely, pleasurable opulence. Like many, at Brelade Travel we are constantly on the go, so personally we love even just the idea of this whole itinerary. For clients interested in the breadth of experience, capturing some of everything Africa has to offer – City, Bush, Beach, History throughout the ages, Fine-dining, Arts & Culture.... and of course the Wildlife! – while remaining completely pampered throughout, this is for you.
South Africa offers a wide range of experiences, seasons and terrains. We start this journey in Cape Town, the port city on the south-west coast, a much sought- after destination offering luxury hotels, glamorous nightlife and a vibrant arts and cafe culture. Aboard the palatial Rovos Rail train, guests enjoy 7 days touring some of the key natural and historical landmarks of the country, as they journey north through spectacular mountain ranges and the scenic wine-lands of the Cape, towards the capital Pretoria. All the while savouring the elegance of a by-gone era.
Onward, the journey maintains its gentle momentum crossing the border into Zimbabwe – a fertile and extremely beautiful country separated from its other half of yesteryear, Zambia, by the mighty Zambezi River. Once renown as the “bread basket of Africa” and referred to by many of its population as “God’s Own Country”.
Here at Brelade, we consider Zambia to be the pick of the crop for safari, combining an outstanding level of luxury accommodation and attentive services, in a friendly and generous environment. The lodges in this area tend towards the opulent. Game viewing on the river allows for sightings of Elephant crossing from one side to the other, and this area is teeming with birds. Some 400 species reside here from the majestic, often solitary Fish Eagle to the flocks of vibrantly-coloured Bee-Eaters that fill the skies when the colony is on the move.
Bordering Zambia, the small crossing at Kasane leads into Chobe National Park, Botswana home to an estimated 120,000 Elephants, perfect for Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Spotted Hyena, and African Wild Dog sightings, and the River bountiful with Hippos and Crocodiles. For bird enthusiasts the variety and extent of populations are stunning, as well as opportunities for spotting much sought after rarities such as the Malachite Kingfisher, Vultures, Marabou Stork and the African Skimmer.
We believe the inclusion of Mozambique completes this tour with exceptional beaches and off-shore marine reserves along with opportunities to explore coral islands and colonial-era ruins – perfect for photography, scuba diving or simply relaxing in your own piece of paradise.
Brelade understands that our clients want to return from their trips refreshed and reinvigorated – we create interesting and diverse itineraries whilst keeping the pace relaxed and standard high – just like the illustration below.
